Ramon Anthony Jadra is a respected presence in the aerospace manufacturing industry who leads a consulting firm focused on building lean process efficiencies among companies. A longtime endurance athlete, Ramon Anthony Jadra participates in mountain bike races and Ironman triathlon competitions.
A recent Outside Magazine article focused on Tim Hola, a triathlete who combines a full-time job and family life with a coveted spot on Suunto’s Multisport Team. Defying the odds of competing in triathlons after the age of 40, 44-year-old Hola has continued to compete at the highest levels.
A factor that contributes to his endurance is the advantage that longer distances provide to older, smarter racers who have achieved high levels of body and strength condition. One way Tim Hola is able to avoid injury as age advances is through trading in the long training hours of the traditional triathlete and creating a training regimen that emphasizes short sessions.
This includes waking up 4:15 every morning and dividing sessions between two sports on alternating days. A day of running and biking is followed by a day of lifting and swimming, with the one recovery day each week typically involving an easy swim. He drinks up to 160 ounces of water daily and prefers to snack on fruits and yogurt instead of fried foods. While he maintains a healthy diet and lifestyle overall, he still enjoys treating himself to a cheeseburger and fries after a well-run race. This is a habit that he shares with his father, who also trains and competes at age 75. In September, the two are set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the combined fastest father-son time in an Ironman.
